As principais orações em inglês

Muitos,ao verem o título deste artigo,devem ter pensado naqueles enunciados linguísticos que giram em torno de um verbo.Aqueles que esmiuçamos para descobrir sujeito,objeto,predicado,predicativo,complemento nominal,adjunto,e também para passar de ano(ou no vestibular) em português e que deveríamos aprender para dar um pouco mais de carinho à última Flor do Lácio.

Entretanto,não é desse tipo de oração de que este texto vai tratar. É oração da transcendência,da comunicação com Deus,da reza. Se você é religioso(cristão,no caso),vai ampliar seus horizontes na comunicação com o Senhor e vai ajudar a ampliar seu vocabulário.Se você não o é,isso será mais uma forma de aprendizado da língua(e o faz ir além,conhecendo um pouco do inglês médio,que veio antes do inglês moderno,o atual).

Vamos,então,às orações:

1) Our Father(Traditional) (Pai-Nosso na versão tradicional)

Our Father, Who art in heaven
Hallowed be Thy Name;
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.

2)Hail Mary(Ave-Maria)

Hail Mary,Full of Grace
The Lord is with thee
Blessed art thou among women
And blessed is the fruit of your womb,Jesus

Holy Mary,Mother of God
Pray for us sinners
Now and at the hour of our death. Amen


3) I believe in God/The Apostle's Creed (Profissão de fé/Credo/Creio em Deus Pai)

I believe in God,
the Father Almighty,
Creator of Heaven and earth;
and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, Our Lord,
Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,

4) Glory Be(Glória ao Pai)

Glory be to the Father,

5) Hail Holy Queen(Salve Rainha)


Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of mercy,
our life, our sweetness and our hope.
To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve:
to thee do we send up our sighs,
mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.
Turn then, most gracious Advocate,
thine eyes of mercy toward us,

6) Our Father(modern version)

Our Father, Who is in heaven,

Em muitas orações acima,você vai/deve estranhar algumas palavras,mas não se assuste:elas não fazem parte do inglês atual(Modern English),mas sim do chamado Middle English(inglês médio).

Por exemplo: no inglês atual,"you" é usado tanto para o singular(tu/você) quanto para o plural(vós/vocês).Entretanto,quando essas orações foram traduzidas para o inglês(médio),havia o "thee,thou",que significava "vós/vocês", "thy"(vosso/vossa), "art"(que,hoje,é "are",do verbo "to be"),entre outros.
